42°C in Summer

Unbelievable! The last time I experienced 42°C was when I first set foot in Doha 8 years ago.  My nose bled for days. The summer heat is dangerous and I live in a town just outside Manila where there are plenty of trees. I can’t imagine how hot it is in the city right now. I love summer but 42°C is just too much for me.

As much as I love the sun, I can’t go on a long out of town trip because of Pierce. He’s too young to be exposed to a weather this hot so we just take short trips to the mall or a nearby park late in the afternoon when it’s cooler. I’ve been busy with my freelance work these days (plus being a mom of course which is my actual full time job).

I just want to share with you some of my instagram photos:

I wish to have a garden one day… One that has plenty of beautiful succulents.

I wish you all a lovely day!

Kiss Proof Summer

Spontaneous Summer with Kiss Proof💄

My love for lippies has no season. I get pretty much whatever shade I like.. No rules! These KISS PROOF matte lipsticks are really stunning. Thanks to @southchique for the fast delivery!💄shades (from top to bottom): 12,13,8,19,15So here’s my review…

Let’s try to manage expectations. Some would expect Kiss Proof to be really kiss proof or waterproof. Let me tell you darling, there’s no such thing. If there’s something you put on your mouth that won’t ever come off, that would be tattoo. And to cosmetic tattoo, I’d say, “no thanks!”

You can expect that:

  • It will stay on for a long time; longer than any lipstick will. Unlike other lippies which are like crayons to your lips, Kiss Proof lippies are like craypas in texture. It glides smoothly on lips during application and sort of builds and hardens as it dries.
  • Its colour is full and vivid. One layer is all it takes to achieve full coverage.
  • It doesn’t bleed on the edges.
  • I wore this for a day without any need for a retouch.
  • If you really want to know, it’s smack-proof! 🙂 Smooch-proof? nah! So if you’re eating chips or truffles, you’re safe! I had a meal and it still looks perfectly fine!

If you’re having soup or a creamy meal, please don’t expect too much. You wouldn’t want anything too hard to remove at the end of the day anyway.

Shades (from top to bottom):

12 – This looks berry plum to me. I really love this shade and I think this is perfect in Autumn too!

13 – Red is always a must-have!

8 – This is pale nude. This will be of good use in creating ombre lips.

19 – If you like coral, this one’s for you. I like wearing coral because it looks so fresh.

15 – the perfect nude

My verdict:

LaineyLoves Kiss Proof

I wish I had these on the day I gave birth to Pierce so I’d look picture perfect! 😁

I bought my KissProof lippies + sharpener from @Southchique. They have lots of trendy sunnies too! Thanks for the fast delivery! 😘

My Post Pregnancy Skincare

Lainey Loves LIfe - Pevonia gift bag.jpg

I have been busy, crazy busy, these past few weeks. “Busy at work” doesn’t even compare to being “busy with baby.” With work, it takes great organizing skills and you’ll be pretty safe and on track but with baby, it’s as if your world will fall apart if you don’t try to be extend your patience – and that applies to both mom and dad.

Time flies by so fast! It’s been three weeks since I gave birth to this beautiful boy soundly sleeping beside me and I’m like a thief here stealing some time to write a blog entry. I think I’m starting to get the groove of being a full time mom-slash-nanny. 😄 I might even start taking digital marcomms job again – that is if I decode and master my boy’s sleeping pattern.

Some time during the 20+ week of my pregnancy, I started getting pimples on my chin. It would go away for a while but it kept coming back and God, I still have them now. And then last week, I received a care package from my friend and former boss Liane! I went crazy going over the items she sent me and I’ve started using them yesterday. I can’t wait to tell you about the wonderful effects of the products on my skin.

Here are the contents of the package. I’ll post about each of the products separately.

A Dash of Green and Gold

The Christmas season is coming and there’s sale everywhere! One lovely afternoon, I took a quick trip to the pharmacy to buy vitamins. I wasn’t feeling well but my eyes lit up when I saw these small eyeshadow compacts. The saleslady smiled at me so I asked her which brand are the shadows from. It’s from Korean brand Shawill Cosmetics.

I’ve tried several Korean brands like Tony Moly, Etude House, The Face Shop, and Skin Food. I haven’t tried Shawill before and because I love the colours, I thought I should get one of each. Lucky me, these are on sale not because they’re expiring but because they’re changing the packaging. You have no idea how much I got these for! 😍 Scroll down if you want to find out…

I love green eyeshadow and gold is something I’d like to try this Christmas!

I bought each for ₱27 or $0.50 (£ 0.33), total of $1 for the two eyeshadow compacts. I thought the saleslady was playing a joke on me so I checked the expiry date. ☺️

The colours look solid when dry so I know these will even be more vivid when applied with wet brush. I’ll go back to buy more within the week!

But first, coffee! And then #makeup

Laineyloveslife ELES Cosmetics Mineral Makeup Spring monday morning coffee

Unbelievable! Yesterday I was at the hospital and while my doctor was checking baby’s heartbeat, I randomly asked if I can have coffee after I give birth, particularly while breastfeeding. She said, “Well, you can have one small cup of coffee a day while pregnant.” I asked her why she never told me and she said I never asked.

OMG. I punished myself for several months. I totally cut my coffee intake and I almost went crazy whenever I’d smell the aroma in the morning. It’s a few minutes before 8am here in Manila and I’m about to make a cuppa. I just can’t wait to tell everyone how happy I am. 🙂

Whilst browsing Facebook, I saw this photo from one of the makeup brands I adore, ELES Cosmetics. It’s a mineral makeup brand from Australia and I love every makeup item that they have. I never really used lipliners before, but whenever I see models and MUAs do a sharp, crisp lipline, I know I have to get hold of several of these to try! These ELES Longwear Gel Lipliners have extremely long wearing, waterproof formula which glides onto lips for transfer-proof, non-feathering wear for up to 7 hours. It can also double as a lip base or matte lipstick.

Dine and wine, or kiss and makeup – the colour stays on! I need to have these in my life. ❤︎
