But first, coffee! And then #makeup

Laineyloveslife ELES Cosmetics Mineral Makeup Spring monday morning coffee

Unbelievable! Yesterday I was at the hospital and while my doctor was checking baby’s heartbeat, I randomly asked if I can have coffee after I give birth, particularly while breastfeeding. She said, “Well, you can have one small cup of coffee a day while pregnant.” I asked her why she never told me and she said I never asked.

OMG. I punished myself for several months. I totally cut my coffee intake and I almost went crazy whenever I’d smell the aroma in the morning. It’s a few minutes before 8am here in Manila and I’m about to make a cuppa. I just can’t wait to tell everyone how happy I am. 🙂

Whilst browsing Facebook, I saw this photo from one of the makeup brands I adore, ELES Cosmetics. It’s a mineral makeup brand from Australia and I love every makeup item that they have. I never really used lipliners before, but whenever I see models and MUAs do a sharp, crisp lipline, I know I have to get hold of several of these to try! These ELES Longwear Gel Lipliners have extremely long wearing, waterproof formula which glides onto lips for transfer-proof, non-feathering wear for up to 7 hours. It can also double as a lip base or matte lipstick.

Dine and wine, or kiss and makeup – the colour stays on! I need to have these in my life. ❤︎

Bright Eyes: ELES Cosmetics Signature Quad

Laineyloveslife-eyeshadow-quad-makeup

When it comes to makeup, I always want to keep things simple. I was a late bloomer. My only beauty wand while I was in college was a concealer because it made me look less tired after pulling an all-nighter.

And then little miss sunshine had to learn how to wear makeup for work. Let’s be honest here.. In the field of marketing, we always have to look presentable, even when the weather is torrid or when it’s raining cats and dogs. It stressed me out because I had to wake up an hour and a half earlier for makeup (1hr to think of the look and colours / 30mins for application).

Some girls would buy pans and pans of eyeshadow and effortlessly know what colours go well. I admit I don’t have the eye for great colour combinations and I’ll only dare to buy single pans in two conditions: (1) if it was recommended by my favourite magazine and (2) if the brand and exact shades were given.

Thank God for quads! I love them because they’re easier to use on days when I’m in a hurry (or lazy). These days, I don’t have to think of what colours go well together anymore because I have three Signature Quads from ELES Cosmetics. It’s an Australian mineral makeup brand that has a great collection of beauty products for sensitive skin.

I love mineral makeup for the chemical-free sunblock it provides. My skin is sensitive so I always try to look for products that are hypo-allergenic and free of skin irritants. My skin loves it. I don’t get huge zits after letting it stay on my face for one whole day. 🙂

ELES Signature Quad – Nouveau Riche

**I took these photos in natural daylight so the quad colours are a bit vivid. The swatch on my fingers are more accurate.

These babies are highly pigmented so I don’t usually have to put a lot. If I apply eyeshadow in the morning, the next retouch will be before I leave the office for dinner. Sometimes, I don’t even have to retouch at all.

**This brand updates its collection often and creates its own seasonal makeup trend. If you check the ELES website, you’ll see Nouveau Riche plus new quads with really gorgeous shades.

Do you like using Eyeshadow Quads too?

My makeup madness is real

I was a simple kid who didn’t wear makeup until I stepped into the corporate world and had to learn how. I was taught that wearing makeup is the mask of confidence and confidence means power and power is, well, what you need to succeed not just in the corporate world but in life in general.

They’re partly right. Hopping from different industries, I know now that no matter what your role is in the company, it’s important to present yourself well. I said partly right because to me power is a combination of confidence, knowledge, and hardwork. I was lucky to be able to work with good role models who taught me the basics of personality development (from knowing colour schemes to acing an interview), and great bosses who thought that a makeup workshop would be a great addition to my skills.

So.. Here’s my first blog entry – Lainey loves makeup. 🙂 Does that make me “not simple” anymore? No. I still am except that I know now how to conceal my flaws. I have a small traincase of all the cosmetics that I have and I can’t wait to show you all of them. The photo below is an army of four and these are the basic products that I use to create a good makeup base.

Lainey Loves LIfe - makeup madness ELES cosmetics

On days when I know I’ll have to wear makeup for a longer time, I always put on a thin layer of the ELES Retexturizing Face Primer. Not a lot of people I know use primer as they go straight to applying foundation but I find this very helpful in keeping my makeup in place from day to night. Gone are those days when you have to totally wash off your makeup at midday because of oiliness. This face primer is virtually weightless, it creates a smooth base that holds the foundation, and it has opalescent reflectors that diminish fine lines (goodbye early signs of aging).

When I’m about to quickly go out to run an errand, instead of the face primer, I apply a thin layer of the Luminous CC Cream with SPF 20. It’s makeup and skincare in one as it soothes, protects, moisturises and corrects imperfections. It does not only conceal, it also heals blemished skin if used repeatedly.

I wear these gorgeous products under my all-time favourite Mineral Liquid Powder Foundation. This is something I truly love and I surely wouldn’t want to run out of this because it’s liquid powder in a tube! It has high coverage (blemishes, fine lines, discoloration – all gone) and it looks so natural but never gets too oily even on a humid day. If you want to know how magical it is, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend that you BUY IT because I’m so confident you’ll love it too. There you go, I just spilled my secret! When I’m using this foundation, I almost never have to wear a concealer (unless I have this big zit which just popped on a very important day, or when I didn’t catch a good sleep). Think HIGH COVERAGE.

To finish my base, I just quickly brush my face with a  translucent finishing powder and then using a smaller brush, I’d add a touch of Liquid Illumninator on my T-zone, cheekbones, browbones, and on my decolette for a sun-kissed radiance.

I know it sounds a lot but I can do a good base in a minute (or less). I know you can too, especially if you’re using product(s) from a gorgeous brand like ELES mineral makeup from Australia.

This is my first entry. More to come! ♥︎
